it is LAW in the state of Michigan to keep your child rear facing until they are 1 year old AND 20lbs! If your baby doesn't meet BOTH of these requirements and they are forward facing you are breaking the law.
But! Did you know that rear facing your child is 5 times safer? Why wouldn't you want the safest thing for your child?
Adam's car seat is rear facing till 35lbs. Which is the "norm" for most convertable car seats.
The Seat Jonathan is in.. rear faces to 40lbs!
HOWEVER!
The Graco My Ride 65 will rear face till 40lbs!
And the Raiden XTLS rear faces until 45lbs!
I will keep my children as safe as possible and keep them rear facing as long as I can.
"other" car seat tips.
Don't buy used (you never know if it was in an accident)
And car seats expire! so check the date on your seat!
The buckle that goes accross their chest should be a nipple/chest height, if you have it clicked by their belly it can cause damage if in an accident.
and the belt should be pretty tight. You shouldn't be able to fit more than 2 fingers under it!
And I just learned the Bundle Me's are not safe for winter babies. If you want a car seat cover choose one that goes over the seat and not under the baby.
